PRINCE MSHIYENI HOSPITAL – UMLAZI
The Prince Mshiyeni Hospital is characterized by its energy, warmth and teamwork.
It is a Thuthuzela Care Centre which is a one stop 24/7 centre for survivors of rape, trauma and gender violence, and provides a holistic multi–disciplinary team approach for child, youth and adult victims of abuse.
The TCC model places the victim at the forefront of service delivery which reduces secondary abuse and facilitates healing and empowerment. Thus the care and treatment of victims is greatly improved with the comprehensive and available services.
A process flow exists:
LifeLine presently has two social workers, a trained counsellor and 3 social auxiliary workers based at Umlazi. The 3 social auxiliary workers work at night from 6pm – 6 am (alternating shifts) and weekends & public holidays.
LifeLine feels honoured to be part of the TCC at Umlazi and to work with a team that is hardworking and dedicated. Prince Mshiyeni is a healing centre that offers support, professionalism and light when times are dark.
